Mentoring Opportunities Directory

This directory is compiled by the State Interpreter Pipeline Team (SIPT), and hosted on the NCRID website as a public benefit.

Please review below the list of mentoring opportunities. These are not facilitated by NCRID nor by the SIPT, but rather are hosted by organizations in the community. They are compiled by the SIPT and hosted on the NCRID website as a service to benefit the community, primarily new and novice interpreters.

Directory

DSDHH Mentoring Program

  • Description: This cohort program occurs quarterly, and is open to NC residents holding Provisional Licensure from the NCITLB. Mentees are paired with fully-licensed mentors for ongoing training, observation, and consultation.

  • Cost: Free

  • Timeline/schedule: 8-week program, once-a-week meetings

  • Eligibility criteria: Must hold Provisional NC License

Elevate with TIN

  • Description: Elevate is a structured, 12‑week mentorship program designed to support interpreters who want to strengthen their skills, build confidence, and prepare for the next step in their professional journey. It brings together nationally certified hearing interpreters and Deaf community members who serve as mentors, offering a balanced, real‑world learning experience.

  • Timeline/schedule: 12-week program, daily practice activities and weekly test-style simulation

  • Eligibility criteria: Any
