This is registration for one person for the workshop “Theatre Games for Interpreters” on 4/18/26. All times are in EST.
PLEASE NOTE:All online transactions will have a small additional electronic processing fee.
In our daily work, interpreters draw on a variety of skills - skills that can be explored and honed through theatre games and exercises. In this workshop we will stretch our minds and muscles exploring observation, concentration, articulation, and respiration (breathing!) This will be an active, on your feet workshop. Please dress comfortably.
Educational Objectives
At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
Explore concentration exercises and discuss how concentration applies to interpreting work.
Practice their observation skills and discuss how to apply observation work in interpreting.
Experience how breathing and articulation techniques can support their ASL to English work.
Presenter: AmyRuth McGraw
AmyRuth McGraw is a native of Washington, DC and has been interpreting for over 30 years, primarily doing post-secondary and performance interpreting. Her theatrical interpreting experience includes dozens of productions ranging from Broadway tours to regional theatre to community and school productions, including such shows as Wicked, A Christmas Carol, and Much Ado About Nothing, to name a few. Early in her career, she spent a year touring with Sunshine, Too, an outreach project of the National Technical Institute for the Deaf. She earned a BA and an MFA in Theatre, as well as an MA in Interpreting Studies.
