This workshop focuses on common stressors in interpreting practice and their impact on performance and well-being. Participants will learn practical strategies to manage stress, build resilience, and support sustainable professional practice.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify Stressors in the Interpreting Practice By the end of the workshop, participants will identify at least three stressors in interpreting practice.

  • Identify skills interpreters can utilize when faced with stressors. By the end of the workshop, participants will identify at least three skills interpreters can utilize when faced with stressors.

  • Apply and practice skills taught during the workshop. During the workshop, participants will apply and practice at least two skills taught during the workshop through guided activities.Presenters: Holly May

Holly May lives in Columbia, SC. She is currently in private practice as well as a freelance interpreter. Holly has been working as an interpreter throughout her career specializing in mental health and emergency response. She worked in community mental health throughout South Carolina and North Carolina serving Deaf and Hard of Hearing for over 25 years. Holly holds her License in Professional Counseling (LPC) in both South Carolina and North Carolina, Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor(LPCS) in South Carolina, Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, National Interpreting Certification (NIC) as and is a Qualified Mental Health Interpreter (QMHI).
