This workshop will be about personal bias and how it impacts own work in the classroom. We will analyze how bias can harmfully and negatively impact how they interact with their D/HH students. Interpreters/DHH staff will discuss and unpack their bias, learn how to change their bias into experiences and change their perspectives. D/HH students often experience discrimination and oppression, due to bias from interpreters. Interpreters may develop bias unintentionally or intentionally; it does affect the D/HH students in many ways. This workshop will bring up scenarios and problems and have interpreters analyze the bias and how it impacts D/HH students.
