NCRID Award Nominations

Every year at our annual conference, NCRID gives recognition to individuals who have served to promote, encourage, and support interpreters as professionals. As in years past, in addition to presenting awards to the chosen recipients, we will be honoring all nominees publicly during the conference.

We are soliciting nominations from each NCRID chapter. Additionally, nominations from individual NCRID members are strongly encouraged. All nominations should be sent directly to the Awards Committee via this form. Questions may be addressed to the NCRID Vice President - ncridvp@gmail.com

The awards to be presented are:

INTERPRETER OF THE YEAR:

An interpreter who, in the past year, has provided outstanding service to the Deaf community in a way that exemplifies the standards of NCRID. Persons to be considered are those who share knowledge, strive to improve themselves and the organization and encourage new interpreters as well as uphold the ethical ideals of NCRID. This person must be a member of NCRID. You can view a list of current members by clicking the link on our membership page.

ROMA FORTUNE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD:

A NCRID member who has provided an outstanding contribution to further the goals of the organization. (The objectives of NCRID are listed here). This person must be a member of NCRID. You can view a list of current members by clicking the link on our membership page.

RALPH CRUTCHFIELD MEMORIAL AWARD:

A Deaf person who has contributed the most support to NCRID.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION CERTIFICATES: (Can award up to three)

A person who has provided aid and advocacy to the cause of interpreting and NCRID.

Rules:

1. Each nomination includes a letter of recommendation outlining why the individual should be considered for the award and should be signed by at least two NCRID members. Please bear in mind that submission does not need to be lengthy.

2. The awards are given based on activities during the most recent membership year, from July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025. You may include supporting information about activities prior to this current year, but the decision will be made based on activities during this membership year.

3. The decision of the committee is final.

4. No executive officer can receive any of the awards listed until one full year after their term. (The executive officers are: President, Vice-President, Second Vice-President, Secretary, & Treasurer.)
