“The Professional Interpreter- Professionalism and Self-Monitoring Practices.”

This workshop focuses on professionalism and self-monitoring in the interpreting field. We will discuss
professional strategies and approaches that interpreters could use. Self-monitoring and self-awareness will
also be highlighted as important pieces to put professionalism in to practice. Participants will participate in
scenario discussions with their peers which will provide meaningful practice in making decisions in the field.
Participants will be able to:
-Discuss various aspects of professionalism and ways to self-monitor within the field of interpreting.
-Organize and examine their own professional approaches through small group discussions. -Inspect various
interpreting scenarios and determine various approaches that can be taken by the interpreter to demonstrate
personal and professional approaches to the work.
