Does the Message Match? Utilizing Prosody and Depiction Within Interpreting Work

This workshop will be presented in ASL.

Workshop Description:

The participants will be provided with research to support and describe the use of depiction and prosody.  The participants will be given opportunities to explore the concepts of constructed action and constructed dialogue.  Participants will be given the opportunity to investigate how prosody impacts the overall message being presented. The discussion of prosody will focus on such features as eye-gaze, discourse markers, pacing, and other features involved in the interpreting process.   

 

Educational Objectives:

Participants will compare and contrast the features are involved in prosody and depiction.Participants will be able to identify when depiction and prosody is used.Participants will demonstrate use of different prosodic features based on emotions and messagesParticipants will be able to produce messages utilizing depiction.Participants will be able to identify the various features involved with prosody.
