The Intricacies of Working with Law Enforcement (.2 CEUs)

This workshop is to increase awareness for both law enforcement and interpreters when working together in a variety of situations.  The format will be a panel discussion between law enforcement officers and interpreters.  Police officers from agencies such as Morganton Police Department, Burke County Police Department, Highway Patrol and Broughton Hospital Police will be on the panel.  We will discuss what an interpreter could encounter in a variety of settings.  The officers will talk about suggestions and expectations they have when working with interpreters.  Interpreters will have the opportunity to provide feedback and suggestions for the officers.  This will be an opportunity to develop a positive collaboration that will assist in effective communication for all!
